Debit Order Problem

I requested my debit order details to be changed on my vehicle finance account. Absa has requested my personal bank statement to capture a debit order. Other financial institutions only require the account number and branch.
I was told that this is the Absa process!!! CHANGE YOUR PROCESS!!! Bank statements contain private information and cannot be sent to random people in your organisation.
