We recently had someone access our home while my husband and two small children were sleeping. They removed a flat screen tv as well as a laptop. Luckily for us, we weren't harmed in the process but the emotional trauma is a heavy one to deal with. To make things worse is the pathetic and complete lack of empathy Outsurance has shown us.

We submitted our claim within 12 hours of our house, explained to the consultant what had happened and thought this would be an easy process. Well to our surprise, it has been one terrible and emotional rollercoaster ride. We are now being told that that our premium doesn't cover the entire replacement value and that Outsurance will only be paying out R3000.00. We have in the interim found that a female consultant that we originally dealt with listed security measures which we never listed to her at any stage. (They have proof of the recordings) The consultant has listened to the recordings and admitted that she was in the wrong and advised us that the matter should be resolved today. We have just contacted Outsurance and it seems they are still looking for ways not to pay out!

Where's the helping hand? Next step Ombudsman? CPA?
