No membership cards sent despite prior complaints

I officially joined Essential Med on a family hospital plan in March 2013. Firstly, I was given no confirmation whatsoever that my membership had been confirmed, and had to request that customer services send it through. I was also told that I would receive a welcome pack that contained memberships cards, etc., within 14 working days. These have still not arrived either. The whole point of paying for private medical insurance is to ensure that you receive private hospital treatment, should the need arise. With no membership cards or car stickers etc. confirming this, myself and my family do not have the peace of mind in knowing that in the case of an emergency, we will be treated privately, due to the fact that emergency services would automatically assume that we have no cover, and go to a state hospital. Unless I actually carry my contract on me at all times, how will anybody know that I am a member of this scheme?
