Debit order issues & Incompetent call centre

I have a student loan with FNB which I'm currently paying back. My debit order usually goes off by the 4th of each month, but still did not by 8 April 2013. I have more than enough money in my account so that's not the issue. I phoned them to inquire why it didn't go off, but the call center was unable to assist me. They kept transferring me to different departments, wasting my time and my airtime. The student loan department suggested that I make a cash payment, but I would rather not. Why must I make a cash payment if there is supposed to be a debit order which up until now has always went smoothly? I would like to know why my debit order did not went off this month as I did everything on my side to assure that everything is fine, and would like this issue solved asap.
