PRETEND TO SELL EXTENDED CAR WARRANTY

Business & Finance

I received an sms reading as follows: "Get an Extended Warranty Service Benefit on your car. STD RATES". I replied car to this sms. About 5 min later a consultant phoned me to sell me life insurance and when I said that they sent an sms re car warranty he quickly ended the call. I phoned the company number that appeared on my phone and insisted to speak to a manager. Someone phoned me back (I still don't have the name) and explained that "they" must have put the wrong reply number on as instant life does not sms clients and only assist clients who contact them, either from TV adds or similar.

This scenario appears strange as the guy who phoned knew exactly what my name was and responded immediately with his sales pitch re the life insurance.

The point I want to make is: Who wants to deal with a company that to you straight out and then pretend to be innocent - yet they were spamming you from database information that they bought or "obtained" from someone.

Even thought I told them yesterday that I am not interested, a lady consultant phoned me this morning with the same story regarding the sms they just sent to me - so much for the fact that they don't send sms'.
