Horrid interest rate on home loan

I am an engineer who has recentley joined the Private Banking for Young Professionals. I have been a client of Standard Bank for over 6 years. I applied for a home loan and was told i qualified for 90% of the loan. I spoke to my Private Banker who then managed to get me the full loan amount. I am very grateful for what he has done for me. When i was presented with a horrid interest rate of 9.79%, i was completley shocked! Most of my collegues who are in the same situation as me have received bond amounts for much more with prime interest rate and less (i think we all know which Bank i am referring to). What is Standard Bank doing for me? Clearly these other banks take much more consideration for their clients personal needs. I have advised many collegues of mine to opt for the Private Banking, my private banker can agree. I will look like a fool now having to tell my friends what interest rate Private Banking has offered me after convincing them to change. Im sure that they will not go the same route for applying for a home loan like me. My private banker then manged to drop the interesr rate to 9.5%. I am still not happy at all. Maybe change is for the better.please help!
