Approved or not approved?

Got an SMS offering me additional service for data to be loaded onto my iPad from fnb. Gentleman phones to say it is approved and a day or two later and I shall have the sim etc within 5-7 days. Over a week goes by so I call to follow up and to my surprise-the application is still pendning. I have now left it for another week and still not heard anything.

How can they phone and say it is approved and on its way before they have even submitted the application?

Very disappointing, I thought I made a good decision to move from absa to fnb. Perhaps not!
