Standard Bank does not honour opt-outs

I have been with Standard Bank for nine years and have consistently recorded myself as opted out of all marketing (email, telephone, SMS). Yet in the last week I've had a call from them trying to sell me credit life protection and this morning an sms trying to sell life insurance. When I say opt out, I mean OPT OUT. The problem is that companies will just keep ignoring opt outs until a CEO actually gets arrested for breaking the law.

But then again, everything's always a fight with Standard Bank anyway. Like my Blue Bean card which got delivered to my branch and then returned to Head Office last week because nobody at the branch thought to let me know it had arrived. It's no problem. I'm just going to close the account. I'm sure another bank will give me a card should I need one.

And like my homeowners' insurance. Is Oscar ever going to get back to me with a competitive quote or should I just cancel and go with my other insurer? Perhaps they think a three-month wait isn't long enough. The service failures within Standard Bank would be comical if they weren't so endemic.
