Handed over illegally

So i have been making regular payments on my account every month, despite of this, i was handed over to 2 different collectors. i have made full payment to Vericred, and now would like my name removed from the blacklist. this account was handed over illegally, not once was i contacted to say "we handing you over" and 2, i was making payment on this account!! i have taken this up with the relevant credit report companies, and an investigation is underway.
