Rip-off charges

A few days ago, I settled my Discovery Credit Card balance by cheque. I have just received the latest statement which shows that I was charged a mammoth R388.11 for this transaction. This is an absolute rip-off. How can they justify such a high charge for processing a cheque? Maybe there would be some justification if this was a cash transaction but it is morally reprehensible to levy such a charge on a cheque deposit. I will cancel my card with immediate effect as well as cancelling my life policy which I just took out a month ago. Furthermore, I will also warn all friends and acquaintances to steer clear of the full Discovery suite of offers (including life cover, medical aid etc.) as the company is obviously morally corrupt.
