My late mother was a member of Regent insurance and we took regent insurance when she bought a toyota Rav4 in 2008. The car was bought for me so I took over payments which was the arrangement we made at home. My mom was later diagnosed with a very rare cancer but by that time I was already made a regular driver with payments coming directly from my account. One of the things I was paying for was a life cover which reflected monthly for two and a half years on my statements. My mom passed away in 2010 and that's when my nightmare started with Regent insurance. When we tried to claim the life cover policy I was told my mom was diagnosed way back with cancer and because she never disclosed to the company, regent would not be paying out any amount, as their account shows that the life cover was initially rejected.

To my shock when I asked why then did they deduct monthly the life cover fees, and I submitted proof, I was told that it was an error from their side and all my monthly instalments would be calculated without interest or tax and returned to me, I recieved an amount of R10 000 from regent.
