Repudiation of Insurance Claim of R 126, 389

House Break-In occurred on 29 September 2012 in Centurion. Household Contents worth R 126, 386 were. Safe was broken into. Police and Armed Response responded. My wife's car was but luckily this was covered by another insurance company. The house is protected by electric fences, palisades, burglar bars, security doors, dogs and an armed response.
Regent repudiated the insurance claim based on the fact that the initial alarm did not register with the armed response. I am baffled by this but it could be due to a radio-link problem, a faulty remote, or a missing/ remote. A compounding problem is the various types of reports provided by alarm companies. I submitted an 'Activity Report' and believed that they had the required information. What they actually wanted was a 'Buffer Report'. The different reports were not explained to me until 2 months later when the computer generated buffer report did not have sufficient historical information. The lack of clear information provided in the policy or by the brokers and assessors is contrary to the Consumer Protection Act. Regent's Complaints department has not responded 26 days after my appeal. All staff are unhelpful.
