First National Bank
28 days... still waiting for an FNB credit card

Business & Finance

I applied online for a First National Bank credit card on Jan 24, 2013. The next day (25 Jan 2013) I was asked to send supporting documents (i.e. latest payslip and copy of ID) which I sent on the same day. Then I never heard from the bank again for several days even though I called numerous time to find out the status of my application. Then on 30 Jan 2013, a very helpful FNB Employee Mr Mbali Mbuqe after hearing my complaint about the lack of assistance with my application, processed my application right then. That day I received notification that my application was 'approved in principle'. On Feb1 2013, I was sent a FNB credit card quotation, declaration and pre-agreement document to sign and return and also send the latest copy of my payslip and copy of ID. I sent all those documents on Feb 1. Then on Feb 19, I received a phone call from an FNB sales lady to tell me that I've been approved for a different credit card then the one I applied and was 'approved on principle' for. When I told the lady I was confused why FNB was changing the type of credit card, she promised to get someone from the bank to call me that afternoon. I've never heard back from FNB ever since.
