Charged R1420.00 for 12 months bank statements!

In January I ordered 12 month's worth of bank statements from Standard Bank. I was informed that 6 months statements would be easy to obtain from an ATM (which I'd done) but I needed 12 months. I was told this would be done as a service and would take 3 business days.

I retrieved the statements (71 pages worth as they print a small amount of lines per page!) The gross misuse of paper annoyed me but I didn't think any more of it.

In happening to check my internet banking I see that I was charged R1420 for this service, at R20 per page. Who in their right mind would attribute this sort of cost to a service, and then balloon the cost by misusing the page?

I was not told the cost would be R20 per page at the time of ordering, assuming that the cost of R30 to R40 which was charged me by the ATM for the 6 months would be doubled or thereabouts!

I will be heading to my branch in the morning to close my accounts with Standard Bank as I feel like I have been mugged.
