Double insurance cove

From early 2011 I have been paying an extra R872 rands on my vehicle's premium not being aware that it was for a third party insurance on the vehicle the bank has taken out. I was of the opinion that my premium had increased due to other reasons. I have contacted Westbank about the situation and have send the documents required as proof that I am insured with Auto and General. To my knowledge one can not be insured for the same item twice and hence a one cannot be compensated twice for the same item. Please can you correct this and refund me the extra amounts payed on the premiums.
