I am posting this complaint out of sheer frustration with Absa. I have been going to the Melville branch since the 22nd of January without getting any joy whatsoever.
On my first visit I requested to see the branch manager. They did not seem to know who this was and sent myself and my wife to a lady at the bulk teller cubicle. I did not get her name. I advised her that I had received a letter from the bank to see a "relationship" officer/manager at any branch due to returned debits on my cheque account. She too did not know who the "relationship " manager was, but advised that this was an FYI letter. I advised her that I am unemployed and struggling to meet my monthly debits and although not in arrears, could probably be in the near future. I enquired as to what assistance the bank would be able to provide. To cut a along story short. We have received no assistance to explain to me, the customer, what avenues are available to reduce my monthly obligations to Absa, despite having been to the branch 3 times since the 22 Jan. I think the only time, I will get assistance, is if I stop paying my loan and credit card with Absa', and get them to hand me over to their lawyers.
