Consolidation Loan

I have twice approached Capitec about consolidating my debts and it really is NOT a pleasant situation to be in but have been declined "due to affordability" but surely there should be a different set of points to be met when applying for a CONSOLIDATION LOAN. it should not be the same criteria as a normal loan application as obviously you are going to be declined due to affordability if you are applying for a consolidation loan! i feel tricked by the advertising and the pamphlets which are lying around the branches where it is specified that - "consolidate all your existing loans for easier monthly repayments"... seriously?!?
