Don't hold your breath to have claims paid

My wife took my one child to have x-rays on 26 Aug 2013. The practice submitted a claim, and due to a complete stuff up with the administrators being changed, the claim went to the wrong place. The first I heard about this was when the practice sent me an invoicel to pay the outstanding bill. I called Essential Med claims, and got told that they claim was submitted incorrectly. I then sorted this out with the practice, and they re-submitted the claim. A month or so later, I got another notification from the practice that the claim was still not paid. So back to the phone I went, and the claims person I spoke to couldn't tell me why the claim was not paid, and told me that it would be paid in the next pay run. This claim was still not by the end of November 2013. I then called the claims dept, who sent me an e-mail telling me that it would, again, be paid in the next pay run. This was on 27 Nov 2013. It's now 3 Feb 2014, and the account has been handed over to VVM for collection, and my credit rating is being affected. Exactly how long am I supposed to wait for a legitimate claim to be settled???

I'm seriously unimpressed!!
