Standard Bank
Does anyone know what is going on?

Business & Finance

My home loan was approved without any additional terms and conditions last year. This was one of the reasons that I accepted Standard Bank's offer over other banks (who all offered me similar deals).

We have now reached the deeds office and suddenly SB wants a Waterproofing certificate. This is after an assessor has viewed the house and approved the loan.

OK, that's fine. But the only person who knows anything about this is the attorney appointed by SB who seems to be reluctant to put me in contact with the right pesron to speak to about the exact nature of the Bank's requirements. The call centre agents have no idea what I'm talking about and no one can tell me specifically what is required. This is a Voetstoets purchase and SB should know that.

Can someone from SB Home Loans urgently contact me to explain what is required, why it is required, and why it was only mentioned at this late stage (because quite frankly if this had been mentioned at first I would have gone with another bank!)

This matter is urgent as all reasonable estimates stated that transfer would be complete by the 1st of Feb and my family and I will now have to make an interim plan for somewhere to live.
