Card swallowed by ATM

I tried to withdraw cash at a Capitec bank atm on the 19th of December 2013.. My card was swallowed by machine. I went into the bank to report where they took my details and promised to investigate. ON January 18 this year, I received a call from the bank telling me that they are not responsible for my loss. I opened a case at the police with case number CAS 994/12/2013. I've been treated unfairly because for security measures I used Capitec's ATM and not any other bank; there are no video recordings to even try and identify criminals and no security guards to ward off criminals. It should be the bank's responsibility to ensure that their atms are a safe place to transact. I'm sitting with a huge loss because they are not doing enough to ensure that, we, their client's money is safe.
I want my money back!
