Standard Bank
Missing money: R4000, exposes my business to risk

Business & Finance

My business has experienced major set backs due to a variety of factors. After much struggle, I got back on my feet, when I clinched a life-preserving deal recently.

The client deposited cash into my account, on 01/02/13. To allow me to start delivering on my service promises, and start work instantly.

To start work on the project: I went to withdraw cash at an ABSA ATM, due to Std Bank's queues being unbearable. The ABSA ATM held back R4000, but reflected the funds as "withdrawn", on my account.

My attempts to get my Std Bank to resolve this, after speaking to 4 Service Consultants (including: a Branch Manager and a Business Banker) led to this response: "We are sorry to hear that, but we need 15 to 20 days to resolve this matter". How absurd. I would have lost this deal, which is worth quite a lot, by then.

This is unacceptable, who carries liability when the deal falls through? Absa or Std Bank? Std Bank, who claim to be "on my side" clearly DO NOT CARE whether I survive or not, for as long as their income is intact.

I do not have the same luxury, to tell my client: "Sorry client, there's a problem, I need 20 days to resolve it... please put your project on hold". Dm it.
