ABSA turns back on microchip card

The card deemed "virtually impossible to counterfeit" by ABSA has been cloned, My card was used to purchase goods while i was sleeping, while the card was in my wallet at my bed side. After stopping the card in the early hours of the morning of the 24th December 2012, on that day when the bank opened i was there to lodge a complaint and to reverse the transactions that still reflected as uncleared funds on my statement.

When i went to the bank after 15 working days i was told pin and card used and the case is closed. I wanted answers from the people at the bank, but they told me they will ask the complaints depatment. On the 1st of february 2013 i received an email from absa saying i am "a victim of crime" and that they will refund me half of the money from my account.

This is unacceptable treatment from the bank.
