Debit after cancellation

I cancelled my car insurance /- 10 days before the debit however the money was still debited. When I phoned the call centre I was told that I had cancelled too late but the money would be refunded promptly. At first I was told it would take 5 days. When I called the call centre again I was given another date and today again yet another date! Always excuses. When this debit went off my account it caused a chain reaction as my other debits bounced. I need the money now, I cannot wait another week or so.

Its very unfair that when its time for big companies to debit it happens so fast without any hitches yet if there's an instance where they have to return monies owed they always have lame, sad excuses! As for ever re-instating my policy... I know I'll think twice, not that my small premium will actually make a difference to such a huge company!
