Standard Bank
Banks Change Debit Order Dates without notice

Business & Finance

I have a debit order for a loan with Standard Bank that is supposed to come off on pay day the 28th of every month. Last month it was the 25th and this month the 19th. I phone and ask why? First explanation "We don't know but we logged a call with the IT department". Was left on hold for 15 minutes after asking to speak to a manager. Second time I call "It is December and all Debit Orders come off early.." Not good enough. Third explanation " There is a tracker on your account and when funds hit the account the debit order comes off". Really? But no funds have hit my account yet this month. So whats going on? Well they don't know. So what would have happened if there were no funds on the 19th? I would have been charged Direct Debit rejection Fees and my loan account would have been in arrears. Shows just how a bank treats its customers. They change direct debit dates without permission or advising their Customers. I asked to have the date fixed to the 28th and was told i had to go to a branch and get them to change it there. I think i will be investigating moving banks. Totally unacceptable. I will have to tell my kids Christmas is off this year.
