Premium deducted on the cancelled insurance

I had a short term insurance with AIB, which I cancelled accordingly on 19 Nov 2013. The email was sent directly to Nadia and customer services (2 days later). The automated response was, I will be called, but that didn't happen. I found out that the normal premium has been deducted on my bank account. I wrote an email to their complaints department. I received an sms on 03 Dec, saying a refund request has been received by Auto and Gen. Until this day (11 Dec) nothing is happening. I'm made to beg because someone didn't do their job when they were supposed to. I have paid for something that I cancelled on time. I personally do not see why I should wait for what is rightfully mine. I didn't authorize for the money to be taken from my bank account. AIB runs its business like a corner tuck shop whereby no matter how many times you complain, the owner will take their time to resolve your issues. Even if the refund is a process, what happened to calling a client just to acknowledge that a mistake was made and they are going to follow it up until it is resolved to the client's satisfaction. It is obvious that the interest of the clients do not matter in this company, only the premiums
