Business & Finance

Further to my complaint earlier this morning "PAYTOZA has deducted R 99.00 from my account on 30/11/2013 with reference 9016ISHQ10262. I don't know this company and I would like them to stop"

I phoned Absa who I bank with. They said to me that they do not have a relationship with paytoza and that I must call 0875750000 to find out who authorised the debit. I got to FNB after being told I need to phone another department on 0113691400 and give the reference 5003 to find out more.

I did this and found that paytoza banks with FNB and that they do not check if a customer has actually signed for the debit order. I must call paytoza myself to stop them doing these deductions and that I need to go to an Absa branch to reverse the debit order and that they cannot reverse it, even though paytoza has the account with them and it is lying within FNB.

How between the banks (Absa and FNB) do you not need a signature or proof that me, the client, has actually said yes to debit my account?
