Receive a phone call from my girlfriend: "Standard bank has frozen my account." Why? We have absolutely no idea. She was a victim of credit card earlier this week and had her card stopped. Assuming this could be why, we contacted division and spoke to Caroline who was incredibly rude, shouted over the phone, said it had nothing to do with them and hung up. She received an SMS earlier in the day saying she needs to bring documentation into Standard Bank. An SMS at 09:00 in the morning, and then immediately freeze her account. Apparently, she is not FICA registered and is told "you need to come into the branch every 6 months to show proof of residence." Just so happens the address you have on your system is outdated and no one bothered to record the previous two addresses she provided you with. Issue not resolved as no one knew what to do and the entire staff acted like a glorified team of trainees.

Had she been out of the country travelling, or unavailable today/tomorrow, the results could have been significantly more serious (frozen account at the end of the month?)

Utterly disgusted. Think I've identified 'beep' bank. In fact, 'Standard' would be an improvement...
