Continued Correspondence With A Deceased Client

I am so disgusted with Absa and their Rewards Program. My husband passed away in January this year and between myself and his Estate Executor we have been trying to cash in the enormous amount of R43-00 and cancel his Absa Rewards account. Absa have been sent all the documentation they requested to pay out and cancel the account on a number of occasions, but the account has remained open and they continue to send correspondence to the deceased.

Yesterday I received an SMS from Absa Rewards as follows :- Hi Mr Mann, your Absa Rewards account has been cancelled. Call 0861788888 should you require further assistance. Regards, the Rewards team.

Clearly as they have now cancelled the account they are in possession of Mr Mann's DEATH CERTIFICATE, and yet they address the SMS to him??? He is deceased.

I am disgusted and hurt beyond words at the callous interaction I have had with ABSA REWARDS PROGRAM and feel that if a policy is not in place to deal with the death of a customer a procedure on dealing with deceased clients and their beneficiaries needs to be put in place urgently.
