I was involved in an accident earlier this month, it was the other person's fault.
There was reasonably bad damage sustain to the passenger's front door and bumper on my car.
I reported the accident and then went and got 3 quotations from various panelbeaters in East London.
We were asked to to take photos and sent them through to miway. No assessor actually looked at my car.
With a previous claim they did not give us an option of panelbeaters and said we had to use a specific one, this time, I requested that they choose from the quotations we had as I wanted to be sure that my vehicle was repaired at a reputable panelbeater. The quotes were between R13 000 and R18 000. We then had to sign a disclaimer form. We received no further correspondence. When following up we were told that that their quote from a panelbeater was a third of the amount of the quotations we had gotten. (around R5000) so we were being paid R5000 less the R3000 for excess which means we would be left with R2000 to fix our car.
This is completely unacceptable - so now we have no choice but to send our car to their backyard panelbeater or else we cannot afford to repair it. Please help.
