On the 3rd of November 2013, i went to an ATM to draw money. My card was swallowed by the ATM machine before i could even enter my pin a blank screen appeared. i pressed cancel button nothing happened. i did not have my phone with me, i rushed home by the time i arrived R2000.00 was withdrawn from my account. I went to the bank on Monday to lay a compliant, few days later i was told to complete an affidavit which i did and explain what happened. Today receive an sms that i should call Standard Bank with 48 hours which i did, they tell unfortunately i will not be refunded reason being i stopped the card late. In my statement i explained i did not have my phone, i had to rush home. If i knew the ATM machine was going to swallow my card i was going to take my phone with. this is poor service delivery. I am Disappointed with the way Standard bank handled this. as a customer i was supposed to be protected. Something like this should not happen. I am seriously considering moving banks, It shows Standard bank does not care about its customers but making money from them. this is unacceptable.
