Standard Bank won't notify you

Yesterday I spoke to Standard Bank Loan department over the phone.
They told me that I was behind on payments for my loan account, and cheque account. I made a plan to pay the outstanding amount by month-end.
The following day I went to check my balance on my credit card. I discovered Standard Bank had locked my account. I did not receive ANY communication that my account would be locked.
I find this to be very unethical. It's common courtesy to notify someone before you stop their account altogether. The call centre agent did not inform me this would happen.
When I phoned the call centre and asked them why no one notified me, the line went dead and they could not give me an answer. I have had good experiences with Standard Bank, but this leaves a really bad taste in my mouth.
What made me rather angry, is no one was prepared to make a plan for me because I had been unfairly treated.
