Bank won't close account

I was phoned by an consultant to change from my saving to a cheque account which I did only to find out that the first month of my cheque account I had a deduction of R500.00 which were deducted by debt review. I went to the bank several times to cancel my checque account as it is running cost (which I am not going to pay). but they did not want to cancel it because of this deduction. I have then change my account to a saving account and did not have that R500 dedecution. Please assist me to close this accout.
