Settlement amount more that the loan balance

We took a loan of R12000.00 in April 2013 and we have been payin the installment of R744 for the past six months. We want to settle the account. The balance on the loan account was given to me as R11230.30 then i asked for the settlement amount which i thought will be lower only to find its more (R11674.44). Can i please get an explanation about these cause i feel like i am been ripped off. I have paid R4464 for the past six months and these does not even show on my balance and when i try to settle the balance goes up. We really want to settle these account please assist.
