Over a year to refund my excess

I had a small car accident in September 2012. After taking my car to the panel-beaters to fix it, I had to pay an excess of R3000, which I paid on the 30 Oct 2012, once my car had been repaired.

Since then I have been waiting to get my excess refund (R3000). Every time i called, for the last 12 months, I was told that they were waiting for this and waiting for that, and that they were following up with this party and that one, and every time i was promised to get feedback 'soon'. I never got feedback until I pushed, and nagged, and only today have I been informed that I will be getting back 80% (R2400) of the amount that I paid.

This is unacceptable. At the scene of the accident, it was clear that the accident was the fault of the other party, and the police report confirmed this, yet I do not get 100% of my money back.

Nevermind that though, why has it taken over a year to come to a resolution? I'm not holding my breath either as the money is not even in my account yet. I would advise anyone looking for insurance to stay well away from New National, they are absolutely pathetic. After informing the agent in charge of my claim about my displeasure I did not even get an apology
