Can it be THAT difficult to close credit cards?

I am really getting fed up with Standard Bank for claiming the credit cards I have now paid up in full are in the process of being closed.
It feels like NOTHING is happening. Especially when you understand how upset I am at receiving an sms at 11h01 today saying that I should use my BlueBean credit card before 31 Nov 13.
This is THIN ICE you are walking on, as it now implies the card is active. So, this also means I am paying credit card fees. What are you trying to do???
But PLEASE, the MOST inportant for me is PROOF that both accounts have been closed and shoudl therefor not even exist anymore!!!
CLOSE BOTH THE ACCOUNTS WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT.
