There's nothing as disappointing as the proverbial kick in the teeth... I've been a loyal client of Absa since leaving school and I never expected anything more than just them giving a reasonable service. The past week however I attempted to draw money from their ATM, the transaction went through but I never got the money.

The ATM is at Absa's Birchleigh North branch so I immediately reported the matter. The bank staff including the manager checked my account and verified that the transaction went through but no money was paid out. I expected them to at least reverse the transaction but instead I got told that it is not their problem. They reported it to the company managing the ATM and it would take at most two days to rectify.

The problem was that I needed that money urgently and regardless of my fighting, pleading etc... they insisted that there is no way in which they could help me. Helping me would put my account in overdraft and it being a savings account means it is not permitted. But when they debit their banking fees when there's no money in the account it is no problem... Doesn't make sense.

Today is Monday, 21 October, 6 days since they promised... still no money!
