Told I can't open a gold cheque account

I went online to apply for a gold cheque account and credit card and someone called me from the call center and did my application then phoned again to tell me he can't help me I must go to the branch. I trusted absa and was receiving my sons grant via them but closed it when I got a job and wanted my salary to go to absa and get my home and car finance. U have all my info on your files yet u don't want to help me. I was under the impression you help people open accounts online.
