Loan settled Nov 2012, yet showing unpaid???

My FNB loan was handed over to attorneys due to non payment. I was part of the big financial crunch that hit SA a few years ago before the NCR act came in to place. I settled this account last year in November, but yet I can't open an account with FNB because it still shows I owe them money some how and I am a bad risk. My financial situation has changed allot since then and I have settled over R160 000 debt since then. Please can someone get in contact with me and explain to me why this is still on my name and how come this hasn't been lifted off my name. I would really appreciate if I can be seen as a client that wants to give FNB business again.
