Refund of Debit Oreder after Settlement

Our car was written off towards the end of the month, and we still owed money to MFC. THe insurance company was given a settlement amount that did not take into account the debit order that was going off on the 7th of the month. We were told that this would be re-imbursed to us.
I received a call from MFC to confirm that the account had been paid up, and when I asked about the refund, was told it would take a month. This debit order was taken off on the 7th September. It is now past the 7th October, and apart from still waiting for the refund, we were debited with R45.00 - no explanation, and I received an sms yesterday to confirm that the account has been closed. Checked again this morning - no refund back in the bank account..
Always quick to take money but slow on the refund.
