Unlawalful debit orde

I had a credit card with FNB. Unfortunately I fell behind on payments. I was then subsequently handed over to lawyers for collections. Name of lawyers is Connack and Muller, the name of the lady i was dealing with is Annie. Last year August I settled the account. they sent me settlement letter. to my surprise FNB shows that I still owe. Opened a cheque acc with FNB and now they just debited that account without talking to me. When I call FNB they say they cant talk to me since acc was handed over. the lawyers say they have told FNB i paid. Why account is not cleared and why FNB does not contact me before just taking money from new account I opened.
