Expired Credit Card.. so 'Fica' this one out

My credit card expired yesterday, so I phone the ABSA Credit Card call centre to understand and inform me the reason of why they did not send me a new card as of yet.

Answer from agent: "Sorry you and not been 'Fica'ed' since 2006 was the reason,
My answer to that was: "so how often must one be 'Fica'ed'
Answer from agent: "every 2 years"
My answer "gees that's allot of 2 years between 2006 and 2013"
Answer from agent:: "mmmmm"

So my gripe is why did not they not inform me in advanced via SMS that my card will only be delivered on presentation of FICA doucuments, not after the fact of expiry.

Bad bad service... moving to FNB :-)
