Still being charged account fees on closed account

My history with standard bank is filled with nothing but empty promises, failed service delivery and people who refer me to other departments.

My student account was suddenly upgraded, without me being notified, only finding out when my first statement came. I queried this and got an apology and a gold cheque and credit account. When the cards arrived, they didn't work and when I tried to use my old card I was almost arrested on holding order, it had been deactivated. After multiple infuriating calls I was informed that my cheque card doesn't exist on the system and my credit card isn't linked to any accounts. After a struggle they linked my credit card to my cheque account, promising a new card, it never came. When I went in to the branch manager was rude and told me that if I have a complaint then I can write it ion the book. I went back again to close my account with the new branch manager, all paperwork was in order and amounts settled, she assured me the account was settled and closed. Now I'm still getting statements charging account and protection fees, when I called in the operator was unhelpful and indifferent. He informed me the accounts were, in fact, still open.
