Charged 31% interest on a loan!!!

I took out my first ever loan with standard bank as I needed an extra R10 000 to get financing on my car. Being my first, I wasn't aware what is the norm for interest. So I am being charged 31%. They calculated it and it turns out that after 2 years I would have paid back over R17 000. I am 23 yrs old and I feel like my start in life after varsity is now a little rocky thanks to standard bank.
