Increase of Excess

Good Day. I have been a client of Miway since Apr 2011. In Jan 2012, my excess was waived due to negotiations that took place based on a quote from another insurance provider in order to retain my business. I have been, up until now, extremely satisfied with Miway's service and have recommended them to many. On 3 Sep, after having my policy revised earlier that evening, I received an email notifying me that my excess on both my covered vehicles will increase to R3300 due to an increase in claims. I have only claimed on one of my vehicles and that was in August 2012, a year ago. I contacted a retention analyst, who had assisted me in the past and she managed to keep my premiums the same, but decreased my excess to R2000. I have decided to move to another insurance company, who has offered me a better premium based on the same excess. I have noted other reports regarding this on Hello Peter and it is obvious that Miways clients feel that the manner in which this was conducted was underhanded, unethical and extremely distasteful. Each client has a right to negotiate the terms of their policy, and in this case those who have exercised this right have been slapped in the face.
