STANDARD BANK NEW ATM MACHINES OUT OF STOCK??

Standard Bank have meted out an insult to Alicedale community of some 5000 people which must be addressed without delay. After endless calls re ancient ATM in Alicedale being consistently out of order with no access to funds for electricity and food and local employers not being able to draw wages etc. we were advised new ATM be installed with privacy etc. Great excitement that screen might be legible and statements drawn! After 6 days without service we find the SAME machine has been re-installed 'refurbished' with addition of ramp and fancy tiles and canopy to disguise this travesty. This a rural area with limited access to any CBD -105kms to PE and 55kms to Grahamstown on a dangerous gravel road, many relying on social grants to survive with most people banking with SB. Grahamstown tell us Standard Bank has no stock of new machines - rubbish!! On a personal level I find the arrogance of Standard Bank and it service grows unabated and unchallenged. Urgent intervention by a clear thinking individual at SB who understands the effect this has on its clients, credibility and image is needed. Eli Konstant
