For the last six months l have gotten offers from FNB to upgrade my account to a cheque Account. I have been to Adderley Street branch a total of 3 times just to see if l will be able to upgrade. Once l sat in the Que for at least an hour just to talk to a consultant who later told me that l needed bring in my employment contract. Recently l received a call inviting me again to upgrade. I spoke to the consultant who told me that all l had to bring was my passport and valid visa and proof of address to the Branch. The agent assured me that that was the only requirements and they provided me with the details of our recorded conversation and other details. I went into the branch again, only to be told that l needed to provide my employment contract. This is astonishing and totally goes against the image and culture of easy banking transitions that this bank advertises. From the onset the sms sent to a customer should highlight the documents they ought to bring to the bank to avoid unnecessary worst of time. Further that Agents should know their products well and not give out inadequate information. Should it take 4 trips to the bank for an account l will pay for anyway?
