I have always had regards for FNB and the service they offer but recently at my Bellville branch in Cape Town, I tried to update my old account details rather than open a new account. On the 5th of April 2013, this guy was very helpful, respectful and cheerful. He explained to me all the documents I should bring with and assured me good service.

Upon returning to my bank the next day, the 6th of April 2013, a lady at the service desk was different towards me. My passport containing my valid permit was in order even though she had this story of hers which didnt make sense considering the fact that she has never travelled outside the shores of Cape Town, let alone SA. Her major problem was hat my proof of residence has different signatures of the rental agent and the name of the flat I'm renting from had the husbands name on the oiginal lease and his wife on an additional extra page. The lease was valid and admissible as proof of my residence.

Her argument was flawed and inconsistent and her attitude was not professional for a banking consultant. I left FNB and opened a new account with Standard bank and it took me about 25mins.

FNB please retrain some of your sales consultants
