Absa please help with getting old MLS settlement

I also financed my vehicle through MLS and have sold it and need a settlement letter from MLS stating that I paid for the car in full a few years ago. I have contacted ABSA and it is proving impossible to get any information in getting this letter drawn up as I have long since discarded any account number to say that I once had an account with MLS. They cannot find anything with my ID number. The traffic dept can see that it was financed through MLS but refuse to give me a registration document until I have a settlement letter I am so frustrated, please help!
