Unable to cancel credit card

On 29 July 2013, I contacted the ABSA Credit Card division's call centre and requested that the credit card be cancelled. I was advised that an agent would "contact" me on the first business day, which to date has yet to happen.

On 7 August 2013, I contacted another call centre agent at the ABSA Credit Card division, a Kagothatso, whom I again requested to cancel my credit card and follow up as to why it had not been done yet. She claimed someone would call me either that afternoon or at the latest the following day. Again, no further communication to date.

Today, 23 August 2013, I contacted yet another call centre agent who informed me that they wouldn't cancel my credit card because there is a debit order from Apple iTunes store. When asked how am I supposed to cancel a debit order I hadn't authorised, and despite the fact that I changed my iTunes payment details to another bank this week, I was told to call the authorising merchant, and put through to the authorisations department to obtain information about this alleged debit order. Here my call was ended abruptly.

With every renewal, I also requested a petrol card be cancelled. Fat chance... I'm still paying for it.
