I applied for a vehicle finance a week ago via Standard Bank and my application was approved, i was so excited. On the day of the delivery i got a mail that my deal was now declined due to my ID as it was not legit and i have to get a verification from Home affair which i did after standing in their long ques i finally send the finger prints and ID verification to them, an hour later Standard bank decided to walk away from the deal stating that they are not satisfied with the documentation and they based their reason on the below as per Desmond Mahlangu their finance consultant:
1.The ID font has changed as compared the old ID book
2.The date of birth is not on the right hand side above the date of issue like the old ID
3. The ID number is not spaced the same as the old ID
4.They tried to call home affairs and their number was engaged therefore the number does not exist
In conclusion i am discriminated due to Home affairs changing their ID Format and not picking up their landlines. If Home affairs decide to change their system that means none of us will qualify for any finance as it will be in standard bank's view unless Home Affairs announces it on the media. Not Fair!
